PocketPlot 2.0!

PocketPlot was originally written as a very lightweight minimap addon with option available only through the lua file. However, I felt like doing more with it and I took my hubby's feature requests and implemented them. Thus, PocketPlot 2.0 was born, with an in-game config screen and other new additions.

Features:
  • square or circle minimap
  • thin, black border (customizable color/alpha)
  • border and clock/coords have options to be colored by class (optional support for !ClassColors)
  • moved and streamlined tracking/mail/bg/voice/LFG icons
  • moved zone text
  • option to hide zone text
  • SharedMedia support for fonts
  • scroll with mousewheel
  • hides map button, zoom in/out, etc.
  • moved and streamlined clock (enable/disable the clock from the display section of Interface Options)
  • coordinates display (click coords to toggle world map, shift-click to send coords to chat)
  • "smart" coords/clock display (change positions depending on what's shown and hide in instances), can show below or above minimap
  • ability to move other frames related to the minimap (durability, vehicle seat indicator, instance difficulty flag)
  • stops the LFD tooltip from going off-screen
  • right-click the minimap to toggle showing the in-game calendar (default flashing ? still shows for new calendar invites)
  • custom minimap blip textures made by yours truly (two styles are included with PocketPlot. If you wish to change the blip texture or like the default blips better, you merely need to change the file path in the lua - the path to the default blips is there for you)
  • can change the alpha/transparency of the minimap
  • option to hide the minimap in combat
  • each character has a choice of using either a global or character specific profile

FAQ:

Is there a slash command?
/pocketplot and /pp

How do I move the minimap or other frames?
In the PocketPlot config window, enable the mover for the frame you wish to reposition in the movers menu. Drag it wherever you wish. When finished, select "None" from the movers menu to get rid of the blue anchor. You can use the "Nudge" buttons to move a frame by one pixel at a time in any direction.

Where can I find more fonts?
For further font choices, I suggest the SharedMedia addon. Have a font you want to use that's not in there? Read the "Instructions for MyMedia.txt" file in the SharedMedia folder.

How can I move the tower capture bars?
I have opted to not support moving those, as it's a PITA to do so. I suggest the mods Capping or SSPVP3 for all of your pvp needs (including moving the capture bars and score frame).

How can I give feedback?
Feel free to leave your comments/questions here, but all bug reports and feature requests need to go to my portal if you want me to remember to do them.

Can I use your code/blips?
All use of my code and custom blips separate from PocketPlot must be for your own personal use and they may not be redistributed separate from the addon. You may use snippets of my code in addons you intend to distribute only after receiving permission, and credit must be given.

Can I redistribute your addons?
My addons may only be redistributed in UI compilations, and any mention of the addon must point to its download page or my portal, both on wowinterface.

Do you accept cookies?
I love cookies! Unfortunately, they may turn to crumbs in the mail. Instead, you may donate to my cookie fund via PayPal.

- right-clicking the minimap to open the Calendar frame will no longer Ping the map
- right-clicking for calendar access now works as a toggle (the calendar will close if already open)
- clicking the coordinates display to show the world map now acts as a toggle (will hide the map if already open - useful if you have an addon that resizes the world map)
- shift-clicking the coordinate display will send your current location to chat

v.2.9
- added option to modify how fonts are rendered (with outline, monochrome, etc)
- added some additional profile options (copy from global profile and reset profile)
- a couple general code changes

v.2.8

v.2.7
- added "nudge" buttons for frame movers
- added confirmation box for resetting frame positions and reloading UI

v.2.1.2
- MiniMapCluster:EnableMouse(false) --> this is so that you can still click through to the world frame in that corner if you've moved the minimap
- worked some magic on the tracking and mail icons to get rid of the thin white line around the outside

...and more!

v.1.4.1

- fixed: updated blip textures. There was a new blip icon - who knew?
- added: path to default blip textures in the comments for that option, just in case you prefer those over mine

v.1.4
- fixed: zone text so it scales with the minimap
- changed: zone text to OUTLINE (instead of MONOCHROME) so it's a little more readable...
- fixed: pending calendar invites will still show the flashy question mark

v.1.3
- merged in the wotlk branch from http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info10254-PocketPlot-wotlk.html

v.1.2
- support for new clock added in 2.4.3 (clicking the clock toggles the new Clock/Alarm interface window)
- placed LFG icon
- placed Voice chat icon
- converted settings to variables and moved their values to the top of the lua for easier option configuration
- oops! added version number to toc

v.1.1
tweaked blip textures - instead of having an embossed look (which made them look larger) they now have a rounded look to them. The size of the tracking dots (players/mobs) was decreased slightly as well.

Good to hear! As I mentioned, I had been working on mine but ran into a ton of issues (most notably the WatchFrame resetting to its' original location after both WatchFrame:ClearAllPoints and WatchFrame:SetPoint had occurred). I tried wading through PocketPlot's mover system for a solution (as my "quick-n-dirty" fix doesn't have this problem) but I'm just not on that level yet.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

As an FYI to others who have also gone through hell trying to find something in-game to move (not modify) the quest tracker, the WatchFrame mover in PocketPlot still works correctly...it just needs to be un-commented.

Line #44 in pocketplot.lua comes like this:

Code:
-- "WatchFrame",
Just remove the two dashes that start that line to un-comment it.

Wish I'd thought of this before spending the better part of a day working on a separate mover that I didn't like very much.

**EDIT** Bah, spoke too soon...it moves the frame, but it's a bit buggy with the quests appearing in it. I'm looking into it. Looks like it has to do with the frame size...

**EDIT #2** Ok, after a couple of hours of testing I've got a functional (if inelegant) solution.

1. Uncomment line #44.

2. Replace line #23 with this (honestly no idea what the hell this does, but it caused Kong to throw weird comparing-with-nil errors until I rolled with it):
Code:
PP_oldMinimap, PP_oldDurabilityFrame, PP_oldWatchFrame, PP_oldVehicleSeatIndicator = nil
3. Add this *somewhere* (I picked a location at random where it'd be easy for me to find, at line #862-863, for the reasons stated. Probably doesn't matter where it goes...):
Code:
--I put this here as a random arbitrary location for this inelegant yet functional hack.
WatchFrame:SetHeight(500)
The 500px frame height for the tracker was just a number I shoved in there as a "well, this'll work I guess" number (it's a bit over half the height of my screen).

Sorry for my constant habit of hacking PocketPlot to suit my random whims, Seerah. Hope you don't mind...I'm just too much of a fan of this addon to go to anything else. If it could take care of my kids, I'd marry it.

No. Is there a setting in Skinner to not skin the clock?

Is there a way to keep skinner from skinning the clock in here?

I have the minimap at the very bottom of my screen, and that same tooltip is covered for me since it is below the plane of the screen. I don't know that there's anything to be done about this through normal settings - pocketplot has no control over the tooltips minimap buttons produce - only the location of the buttons themselves.

You can however open up the .lua file and find the position for this icon (I think it must be accounted for, anyway). It's pretty clearly marked. Then you can adjust the X Y numbers until the icon is located in a logical spot for your particular layout.

I don't know, I don't use SexyMap and am not sure if it has a feature to change blips. You could put the blip texture in the SexyMap folder and then take the bit of code from pocketplot.lua that sets the blips and put it in one of the SexyMap files (changing file paths as necessary). Just remember that this would be for personal use only, and not for distribution in a UI.

For a more uniform look to the text, I added a shadow to the coordinates text since the location and clock text have a shadow:

Code:
--COORDINATES
	coords:SetFont(LSM:Fetch("font",db.lsmfont), db.coordSize, db.fontFlag)
	coords:SetShadowOffset(1, -1)
	coords:SetShadowColor(0, 0, 0, 1)
	if db.coords then
		coordframe:Show()
	else
		coordframe:Hide()
	end
Maybe something to consider for your next update.

This makes placing the minimap in any corner but the Blizzard default unusable. If you could write some code to auto adjust its position based on which side of the screen the minimap is on, or set up some manual positioning for that frame, that would be awesome.

I also noticed there's a new flag icon which I assume is a dungeon difficulty display (showed up in a 5 man heroic and had a skull and '5' on it). I'm not sure if this is something you added or if this is Blizzard's doing but if you could add an option to KILL IT WITH FIRE that would be amazing!

Overall, I think I found my new minimap mod of choice, though. Excellent work.
The newest version can already move the little flag, and you could add LFDSearchStatus in the lua in order to move the said tooltip. Works great for me.
